KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton: Review of the Suite and 28th-Floor Pool

Thailand’s first Curio Collection hotel sits at the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 29, across the road from EmSphere.

In collaboration with KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton.

KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton, opened on September 24, 2025, on Sukhumvit Road at the mouth of Soi 29, with 306 rooms on 28 floors. It is the first Curio Collection hotel in Thailand, and we stayed in a Corner Junior Suite. Is KROMO Bangkok worth it? Yes, if you want a quiet, modern room, a calm roof pool and a base you can walk from, between BTS Asok and BTS Phrom Phong. It is a design hotel more than a resort, so there is no spa on site, and breakfast is ordered from a menu.

We landed at Suvarnabhumi at 6:35 a.m. on the Thai Airways flight from Amsterdam. Early check-in had been arranged in advance, so we went straight to the room instead of waiting out the afternoon. After a night on the plane, that was the most useful thing the hotel could have done.

Is KROMO Bangkok worth it?

The strongest points

  • The Corner Junior Suite: modern, very clean and almost silent
  • A calm infinity pool on the 28th floor, with loungers easy to get
  • Very good food and friendly service at Colette
  • Design and art by Thai artists throughout the building
  • A location in the middle of the Sukhumvit mall belt, within walking distance of the Em District and Terminal 21

Worth knowing

  • The nearest BTS stations are about 600 meters away, an 8- to 10-minute walk
  • There is no spa on site, so massages are booked at SCape by HARNN in EmQuartier
  • Breakfast is à la carte, ordered from a menu
  • Storage is fine for a few days, but tight for a week with shopping bags

If design, location, and a small-hotel feel matter to you, and if a pool can stand in for a spa, KROMO is worth booking. For a hotel that has only been open a short time, it already delivers an extremely solid stay.

KROMO Bangkok location: Sukhumvit Soi 29

KROMO sits on Sukhumvit Road at the mouth of Soi 29, directly across from EmSphere. This is one of the better parts of the city for shopping and food, and the hotel falls between two BTS stations.

PlaceDistance, per Hilton
EmSphere200 m
BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit600 m
BTS Phrom Phong600 m
Emporium600 m
Terminal 21800 m

It is not on top of a station. Six hundred meters in Bangkok heat is an 8- to 10-minute walk.

The Em District (EmSphere, EmQuartier, Emporium) is 200 to 600 meters away. We walked to Terminal 21, where each floor is themed as a world city, and farther north to Central Embassy at Phloen Chit BTS. You can fill an afternoon in the malls and side streets without spending much of it in a car.

From Suvarnabhumi

The hotel is 29 km from Suvarnabhumi. We took a Grab in September 2026; it cost 500 baht and took about 30 minutes. (It’s smart to download both an eSIM and the Grab app before landing in Thailand.)

The rail alternative is the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai, then a change to the BTS Sukhumvit line toward Asok or Phrom Phong. Guidebooks put that at 30 to 40 minutes and 70 to 90 baht.

Design: Bangkok as the City of Nine Gems

The concept comes from Bangkok’s ceremonial name, the City of Nine Gems. Thai firm DIN Studio developed the overall design story. LuxeLife Studio designed the guest rooms and corridors. Each stone has a place. The diamond is a lit circle set into the facade. The garnet is red flowers in the arrival garden. The two sapphires are Siamese fighting fish inside Colette. Zircon is the pool on the 28th floor.

The art is by Thai artists. In the 10th-floor lobby, Korakot Aromdee’s sculptural clouds hang overhead, and Studio JEW+ painted the ceilings. In the rooms, Nakrob Moonmanas’s illustrations appear on the bathrobes, in mirror panels, and inside drawers. The carpets take their pattern from the feathers of a sunbird.

Vilah, on the 10th floor beside the lobby, is the hotel’s room for workshops and gatherings. The name, and the cat’s-eye motif, come from the gem.

KROMO Bangkok rooms: our Corner Junior Suite

We stayed in a 42 sq m Corner Junior Suite on the 11th floor. The corner gives light and a view in two directions, and we had a panorama over the city. There is a seating area and a desk.

The bed was modern and very comfortable. The hotel has a pillow menu. We never opened it. The pillows were already right. What set the room apart was how clean and current it felt, down to the hardware. Outlets sat where we needed them, including by the bed, so the phones charged overnight without a cable stretched across the floor. Storage was fine for a few days, with hangers, drawers, and space for a suitcase, though we would have wanted more if we were staying a week with shopping bags.

The bathroom has a rain shower and a full-size tub, and from the tub you look out over Bangkok. Water pressure in the rain shower was strong and steady; the tub filled without fuss. The toilet is a modern Japanese one in its own separate room, a small detail we came to appreciate. The room also has a 55-inch TV with a soundbar, an espresso machine, a garment steamer, a bathrobe and slippers, and HARNN products in the bathroom. After check-in you also find a KROMO Passport in the room, a small booklet you stamp while looking for details around the building. A fun little accessory, and we can imagine kids liking it.

Noise and sleep

The hotel faces a busy main road, so the sound question was the one we arrived with. Turns out we had nothing to worry about. We did not hear the traffic, and the air-conditioning was barely audible. The room is properly insulated, and the blinds blocked the Sukhumvit glow well enough that we slept past sunrise. Wi-Fi in the suite was quick enough for uploads and video calls; we didn’t clock the speed, but nothing stalled.

That was the surprise: in the middle of Sukhumvit, with traffic and malls around the corner, both the room and the pool were quiet enough that we kept forgetting how central we were.

KROMO Bangkok rooftop pool

The roof pool is the reason to stay here. It sits on the 28th floor, drawn as the gem zircon, with a ceiling over the water that glows in warm tones. The pool is long. Part of it runs under the roof; the side facing the city is open.

We went several times, in the afternoon and at sunset. The surprise was how few people were there. Loungers were easy to get every time. The water temperature was comfortable.

Water, towels, and an emergency phone sit by the pool. Behind it is a small bar and a seating corner with a sofa. Sunset was around 6:20 p.m. on the days we were there.

Wellness without a spa

You will read that KROMO has no spa. There are no treatment rooms, and that part is correct. Treating the absence as a missing wellness offer is the mistake. The 28th-floor pool does the job a spa usually does: quiet, uncrowded, usable in the afternoon and at sunset. Add the gym with the city view and a tub with a panorama in the room, and you have most of what people book a spa for. The gym has floor-to-ceiling windows over the city and modern equipment, and a city view while you work out never hurts.

If you want a massage, KROMO has a partnership with SCape by HARNN, the same brand as the products in the bathroom, with exclusive spa packages for guests. The spa is in EmQuartier, a short walk from the hotel.

Breakfast at KROMO Bangkok

Breakfast is at Colette. You choose two dishes and a drink, à la carte. We ate late one morning, around 11:20 a.m., with no wait. The room was calm and the food was good. Breakfast is served until 2:30 p.m., which is a real plus after a late night or a long flight.

The oatmeal was the one to order, served with coconut, fruit, honey, and honeycomb. We also had a croissant with avocado, egg, and arugula.

Colette: the restaurant and bar at KROMO Bangkok

Colette is a French bistro and bar with classic French cooking and a lively Sukhumvit crowd in the evening. The bar list runs to cocktails built around fashion references, natural wine, and orange wine. The restaurant is open from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

All of it was very high quality with just the right taste. The signature Silk Route cocktail was surprisingly good. It arrives with an elephant stencil on the foam, a small Thai detail that also photographs well.

On the menu in September 2026, the food we ordered and one cocktail came to about 2,880 baht. The pricing is in line with Sukhumvit dining destinations, and the quality of the ingredients and generous portions made it feel well worth it. Check the menu on site for current prices.

Service

The first example came before we were in Bangkok. Early check-in, arranged ahead, made a real difference after the overnight flight.

The rest of the stay held that line. Everyone we dealt with, from the desk to Colette to the pool, was friendly and on it. Nothing needed a second ask.

Practical information

Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out at noon. We arranged early check-in in advance and got it. If you are on an overnight flight, ask well ahead.

Standard Wi-Fi is complimentary for all Hilton Honors members. Hilton Honors enrollment is free and can be completed prior to arrival or at check-in. Premium Wi-Fi is available for an additional charge.

Parking is free, with valet and EV charging. KROMO offered airport transfers from 2,000 baht in 2026. They need to be confirmed at least one day before arrival, so contact the hotel ahead of your flight. Otherwise, take a Grab. Pets are not allowed.

KROMO Bangkok prices: what it costs per night

When we checked Hilton.com in October 2026, a King Classic Room for November stays was 6,000 baht a night before 10% service and 7% VAT, about 7,060 baht in total. The Corner Junior Suite we stayed in costs more, and rates change with dates. Hilton Honors is free to join, and members can book member rates on Hilton.com. You can also compare the rate on Booking.com. We stayed as guests of the hotel and did not pay for the room.

Is KROMO Bangkok a luxury hotel?

What KROMO has is design, art, a quiet suite with a tub and a city panorama, a capable bistro, one of the more interesting pools in Bangkok, and service that held up. The pool and the gym supply most of the quiet. That makes KROMO an upper-tier design hotel with fewer facilities than a large resort. Booking sites such as Trip.com list it as five-star.

Who it is for

It suits people who care about design, couples who want a quiet base in the middle of Sukhumvit, and anyone who wants the Em District, Terminal 21, and Central Embassy within walking distance. Curio Collection is built for hotels with their own identity. KROMO has one.

It is a poor fit if you want a big spa inside the hotel, or a beach holiday. If the plan is a quiet pool with an epic view, it fits.
